- Basic Maths (Code: 241): Designed for students who do not wish to pursue Mathematics at the Senior Secondary level (Class 11 and 12). It is less complex and focuses on fundamental concepts.
- Standard Maths (Code: 041): Aimed at students who plan to study Mathematics at higher levels. It includes advanced topics and is more challenging.

Can I switch to Standard Maths in Class 11 if I took Basic Maths in Class 10?
Yes. Previously, only students who opted for Standard Maths could take Mathematics (041) in Class 11. Students with Basic Maths had to choose Applied Maths in Class 11. However, as per the CBSE circular dated 27.05.2025, students who took Basic Maths in Class 10 (2024-25) can now also opt for Mathematics (041) in Class 11 (2025-26), provided the school confirms their aptitude.
This change opens opportunities for students who initially chose Basic Maths but later developed an interest in pursuing Mathematics at higher levels.
