The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon release a public notice opening the portal for corrections in submitted NEET UG 2026 applications. As per the NEET UG 2026 Information Bulletin, the window for correction in particulars was to open from March 10, 2026, to March 12, 2026 (up to 11:50 P.M.). However, since the last date of form submission has been extended to 11th March, so most probably the correction window will be open from March 13, 2026 to March 15, 2026 (up to 11:50 P.M.).

Once the portal is open, registered candidates can log in to make necessary modifications. Every candidate must review their submitted application printout thoroughly. Even a minor typo can significantly impact your admission and counseling process in the future, so utilize this facility carefully to fix any errors.

Important Dates at glance:

EventDate & Time
Correction Window OpensMarch 13, 2026 [tentative]
Correction Window ClosesMarch 15, 2026 (11:50 PM) [tentative]

It is important to note that not all fields are editable. The NTA has strictly prescribed what can and cannot be changed during this period. Read on to know exactly what you are allowed to edit.

Furthermore, this correction facility is a one-time opportunity. This means that once you make your corrections and hit the final submit button, your application will be frozen. You cannot log back in to make further edits. There is no need to rush. First, carefully go through the printout of your submitted application, make a clear list of the changes you need to make, and execute them in one go. Only click the 'Final Submit' button when you are 100% sure everything is accurate.

Editable Fields During the Correction Period

The NTA specifically outlines the editable fields in Annexure-I of their Public Notice. For your reference, here is the exact data from Annexure-I in an easy-to-read format:

S. NoActionsFields

A Note on Signatures and Photos: You might notice that point 2(v) above allows signature edits, but the general Information Bulletin states that "Photograph, Signature, and Thumb Impressions" cannot be edited. Don't get confused! Generally, you can edit what is mentioned in Annexure-I. Regarding photographs, you are only required (and allowed) to re-upload your photo if you received a specific SMS from the NTA stating that your "Image is blurred."

Rules for Non-Aadhaar Verified Candidates

If you did not use Aadhaar to verify your identity during registration, the NTA grants you slightly different editing permissions. Below is a table that clearly compares what Aadhaar Verified vs. Non-Aadhaar Verified candidates can edit:

What CANNOT Be Edited During the Correction Period?

By now, you should have a clear idea of what you can fix. However, this is only half the picture. Knowing "what not to do" is just as crucial. To prevent impersonation and security issues, the NTA strictly locks the following fields for everyone:

S. NoCategoryFields That CANNOT Be Edited
1.Contact DetailsRegistered Mobile Number
Registered Email Address
2. Identity InformationAadhaar Number or other ID Proof numbers

How to Make Corrections

The process is straightforward, but ensure you are doing this from a stable internet connection:

  1. Log In: Head to neet.nta.nic.in. Click "NEET UG 2026" > "Candidate Login." Enter your application number and password (or use OTP if set up).
  2. Access Correction Tab: Once logged in, spot the "Correction in Application Form" link. Click it— it'll only appear during the correction period.
  3. Verify with OTP: Enter the one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile/email. This adds a security layer.
  4. Make Edits: Review your form. Only the editable fields will be highlighted. Update them carefully and upload fresh documents if required (e.g., a new category certificate in PDF format, between 50KB to 300KB).
  5. Preview & Save: Hit "Preview" to scan for errors. If all good, click "Save" or "Final Submit." You'll get a confirmation on-screen.
  6. Download Proof: Download the updated Confirmation Page/Correction Slip as a PDF. Print it for your records, as the NTA will not send it to you via email.

What to do after correction?

I have provided below a Post-Correction Checklist that needs to be checked after correction.

  1. Fee Payment: If your correction (like a category change) impacts the application fee, you must pay the difference for the changes to be saved. Excess payments made will not be refunded. No refunds for overpayments (e.g., if you paid General fee but switch to reserved).
  2. Confirmation Page: After submitting corrections, the old confirmation page is void. You must download and print the Revised Confirmation Page.
  3. One-Time Only: You only get one chance to enter the correction dashboard and submit changes. Once you hit "Final Submit," the form is frozen.
