CTET Feb 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Before submitting the application form, candidates are required to meet the educational qualifications prescribed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
Eligibility for Paper 1 (Classes 1-5)
Any one of the following qualifications is acceptable:
- Senior Secondary (Class 12) with at least 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed)
- Senior Secondary with at least 45% marks + 2-year D.El.Ed (as per NCTE 2002 norms)
- Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks + 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
- Graduation with at least 50% marks + 2-year D.El.Ed
- Graduation with at least 50% marks + Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)
- Note: B.Ed holders must complete a 6-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education within 2 years of appointment
- Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Special Education
Eligibility for Paper 2 (Classes 6-8)
Any one of the following qualifications is acceptable:
- Graduation with at least 50% marks + 2-year D.El.Ed
- Graduation with at least 50% marks + Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)
- Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks + 4-year B.El.Ed
- Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks + 4-year B.A.Ed or B.Sc.Ed
- Post-Graduation with at least 55% marks + 3-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed
Relaxation for Reserved Categories: Candidates from SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories get a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks requirement.

Age Limit
CBSE has not set any upper age limit for CTET.

How to Apply for CTET Feb 2026
With the release of the notification, the online application process has begun on the official website. The steps involved are as follows:
Step 1: Visit the Official Website
Go to ctet.nic.in and click on the "Apply for CTET Feb 2026" link.
Step 2: New Registration
Click “New Registration” and enter personal details such as name, mobile number, and email ID, followed by password creation. A unique registration number is generated.
Step 3: Fill the Application Form
Candidates are required to log in using their registration number and password, then complete the application form with:
- Personal details (name, father's name, mother's name, date of birth, category)
- Educational qualifications
- Contact details (address, email, phone number)
- Choice of paper (Paper 1, Paper 2, or both)
- Preferred exam language
- Choice of exam center cities (up to 4 choices)
Step 4: Upload Documents
Upload scanned copies of:
- Recent passport-size photograph (JPG/JPEG format, 10-100 KB, size: 3.5 cm width × 4.5 cm height)
- Signature (JPG/JPEG format, 3-30 KB, size: 3.5 cm width × 1.5 cm height)
Step 5: Pay Application Fee
Pay the prescribed fee through online mode (credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI) or offline through E-Challan.
Step 6: Submit and Print
After successful payment, the form must be submitted. The confirmation page should be downloaded and printed for future reference.

Can Candidates Appear for Both Papers? Yes. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria may apply for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 to become qualified for teaching at both levels. Both papers will be conducted on the same day in different shifts.

Qualifying Marks and Result
To qualify for the CTET exam, candidates need to score:
- 60% or above (90 out of 150) for General/OBC candidates
- 55% or above (82.5 out of 150) for SC/ST/PwD candidates
